How podcasting led from a hobby to a dream

Podcasting from hobby to dream

I share my story of podcasting and how it enabled me to follow my dreams.

Concise history

  • Started listening to podcasts as soon as Apple launched iTunes 4.9.
  • This Week in Tech and The Jesus Geek were first two subscriptions.
  • Heard a workable model from You Suck at Web Design.
  • Received “kick” from Cliff Ravenscraft and Cali Lewis to “just do it.”
  • Published first episode of the Ramen Noodle on October 10, 2007
  • Released only eight full episodes of the Ramen Noodle before taking it seriously in November 2009.
  • Launched The Audacity to Podcast and Noodle.mx Network in June, 2010.
  • In summer of 2010, decided to be full-time freelancing in one year.
  • The Audacity to Podcast was featured for weeks in iTunes. Audience exploded and provided a first step toward my new dreams.
  • Left my full-time job in June, 2011, to be full-time freelance web designer.
  • Was invited to speak at BlogWorld and New Media Expo in New York City in spring of 2012.
