If you host a video podcast, or produce any video along with your audio podcast, then you should be on YouTube!
I’m a fan of making things easy for your audience. You should especially want things to be easy for your potential audience to subscribe.
That’s where you can use the YouTube subscription link to encourage more people to subscribe to your YouTube channel.
It’s really easy! Make sure that your YouTube channel has its own ID (for example, The Audacity to Podcast’s YouTube channel ID is noodlemx
), then replace my user ID in the following URL with yours.
http://www.youtube.com/user/noodlemx?sub_confirmation=1
If your channel has random characters and not a username (your channel URL would have /channel/
in it instead of /user/
), then format the URL slightly differently.
http://www.youtube.com/channel/REPLACE_WITH_ID?sub_confirmation=1
If someone uses that link, they will be taken to your YouTube channel. If they are not already subscribed, they’ll see a front-and-center box prompting them to subscribe.
If the visitor is already subscribed to your channel, they will not see this subscription box, but will see you channel as they normally would.
But don’t stop there! Get Pretty Link Pro or Better Links Pro to make a friendly /youtube
URL that redirects to your subscription link.
You can easily use your new YouTube subscription link in emails, tweets, YouTube videos, comments, blog posts, podcast episodes, and more. I recommend that you place it on your front page with my Social Subscribe & Follow Icons plugin for WordPress.

You’re welcome! I’m glad to have helped!
where it put
please make a video for this method
and paste a link here
what if you have a space in you name?
You can’t have spaces in your YouTube username. Yes, you may have them in your display name, like “The Audacity to Podcast,” but not in the username.
It is work. It’s just not working for your because you’re using your own channel to test the link.
Hello I’ve been trying to do this but it keeps coming up saying “invalid request” any idea what I am doing wrong? Thanks so much
Same here
Sounds like you’re not using a valid YouTube ID.
Visit your YouTube channel and then look at the URL. It might be after “/user/” or “/channel/.”
I updated the post. The URL I was previously using (with add_user) doesn’t support channels without usernames. The new URL (updated in my post) can be adapted for channel IDs.
Thank you Daniel!
How do you find out what you YT id is?
Visit your YouTube channel and then look at the URL. It might be after “/user/” or “/channel/.”
Just what I was looking for! Thanks :))
Hi Daniel,
Can you do the same thing for mobile? That would be great.
On iOS, it does launch the YouTube app directly to my channel where a subscribe button is easily visible. It’s not an identical experience, but it still accomplishes the basic goal.
You’re not doing anything wrong. You’re using the right link.
You see something different, because you’re already on your channel or subscribed. Log out and visit your link, or load a different YouTube account and visit the link.
Hi Daniel!
I have a question.
There is a possibility to use this sub_confirmation on a video link?
Like, when someone access a blog link that send to a youtube video, appear the subscribe button?
Or it only work in the channel page?
Thanks!
It works only on the channel page.
How to get the same thing happening on

No, it works. Test the link from a different YouTube account. You won’t see it work because you can’t subscribe to your own channel.
